Our Vision
The Eastern Shore will be the prime example of rural living: a place where towns are vibrant and well-defined; where farms, forests and fisheries are thriving; where historic, scenic, and natural landscapes are maintained.
Our 2012 Policy Platform
- Support land and water use policies that increase the vitality of small towns and protect the rural landscape. ESLC supports residential and commercial development focused in towns, infrastructure to support sustainable growth, and protection of the rural landscape including the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
- Support economic development efforts for the Eastern Shore that strengthen the agricultural, forestry, and fishing industries, and that direct and deepen investment in small towns.
- Support transportation policies that result in the most sustainable land use patterns for the Shore. Promote policies that make travel safer and easier and that emphasize alternatives to standard travel.
- Support energy policies that promote long-term, locally generated, renewable energy solutions; looking beyond dated 20th century infrastructure models like that of the Mid Atlantic Power Pathway (MAPP) project.
