Purpose of the Position: In an effort to protect the prime farmland, wildlife habitats, and unique natural assets of the Eastern Shore, ESLC has preserved nearly 50,000 acres since its founding in 1990. While many of these preserved properties are privately owned, a few are open to the public and require regular upkeep. ESLC staff and volunteers uphold these maintenance needs through restoration and best management practices. Stewardship of these lands enables communities to enjoy the natural world around them and helps sustain the landscape of ESLC’s protected properties.
Duties and responsibilities: ESLC is looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks on our preserved properties. These tasks will be different for each site, but most likely include trail maintenance, trash pickup, and invasive, non-native plant removal at the site.
Qualifications: Volunteers are expected to show up on time with a positive attitude, have a sincere interest in supporting the mission and work of ESLC, and willing to perform physical activity outdoors.
Time commitment: Time commitment will vary based upon the needs of the property.
Benefits & Training: Volunteers will receive a brief introduction to their assigned duties when they arrive at a site on a workday. In addition, ESLC staff will be available at all land management related events in order to answer any questions.
Flexible Location: Locations vary.
