Purpose of the Position: In efforts to preserve the prime farmland, wildlife habitats, and unique natural assets of the Eastern Shore, ESLC assists landowners in exploring and implementing various conservation options for their properties, such as conservation easements. To ensure the ongoing preservation of these special places, ESLC visits landowners and inspects preserved properties on an annual basis. The Land Steward Program Assistant will play an instrumental role by helping the Stewardship Manager, Megan D’Arcy, assemble and organize the necessary documents (photos, maps, and other important conservation documents to each site) for the site visits.
Duties and responsibilities: The Land Steward Program Administrative Assistant will assist the Stewardship Manager in various administrative tasks related to the file management of ESLC’s protected lands. Duties include, but are not limited to scanning and electronically filing original stewardship documents, entering data into the Conservation Connections database, and assisting with miscellaneous organizational tasks in the office.
Qualifications: Volunteers are expected to show up to their shift on time with a positive attitude, willingness to help, and possess good communication and organizational skills.
Time commitment: Flexible! Volunteers can donate as little or as much time based on preference. The volunteer’s service is limited within the weekly operating office hours (Monday-Friday) 8:30-4:30 pm.

ESLC staff will provide volunteers with an orientation of the office and their tasks.
