Political Campaign Policy

Election Intervention

The Eastern Shore Land Conservancy does not intervene in any election campaigns pursuant to ESLC’s adopted policy. That policy is contained in ESLC’s Articles of Incorporation, signed by our Board of Directors on May 30, 1990. The 8th Article states that “…the Corporation [ESLC] shall not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public.” ESLC applies this policy to the content of its Web site.

The inclusion of a link on this Web site does not imply endorsement by ESLC of that site or its content and such links are provided only for information purposes. Each link is monitored on a periodic basis to check for technical problems and content. ESLC does not establish links to Web sites with content or links to other Web sites supporting or opposing candidates for elected office.

During an election year, ESLC periodically monitors established links to advocacy-related sites prior to local and state elections. If content appearing to violate 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service regulations regarding electoral intervention appears on a linked Web site, ESLC will seek advice through legal counsel on whether or not to delete said link or delete and reestablish the link once the offending content has been removed.
