Over the last few weeks, ESLC has been promoting its workshop series titled Solutions for a Changing Delmarva to help attendees learn about climate issues in their community. We hosted the first workshop on Tuesday, January 12th, and we had an amazing turnout with more than 130 guests.
Eastern Shore Land Conservancy's Center for Towns creates and promotes safe and equitable access to parks, trails, and other public spaces throughout the region. By highlighting these community assets, within and between Eastern Shore towns, we seek to increase public usage and support of public open spaces to ensure that all citizens have a deeper connection to land and place.
Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC) is pleased to announce closing on a new conservation easement! The easement, completed in partnership with the U.S. Army and Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MD DNR), protects 441 acres of agricultural land and critical species habitat with scenic value, off Back Creek and McGill Creek in Cecil County.

The current COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic is forcing towns across the Eastern Shore to adapt quickly to the new and evolving norms and regulations. This public health crisis begat an economic crisis that is creating a unique set of challenges for our officials. Towns and Counties on the Eastern Shore are now planning a response to a crisis that none in this area have ever before seen. But some of the great responses to these challenges can help create stronger communities once we overcome this pandemic.
The next story is from Pat Langenfelder. You may recognize the name from the delicious Langenfelder Pork that is raised, processed, and distributed by her family in Kent County, Maryland. Farmers and producers, like the Langenfelders, play a critical role in our local food systems and we should support them however possible.
