By the year 2030, ESLC seeks to protect 50% of the Delmarva Peninsula with the support and partnership of multiple conservation-based organizations, the Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia state governments, the private sector, and forward thinking landowners.
Aimed at protecting the peninsula’s rich heritage, Delmarva Oasis will act as a national model for landscape-level conservation supporting thriving rural economics, strong prosperous towns, and protecting this critical ecosystem.
Carpeted with farms, stitched with forests, and buttoned with rural fishing villages...Delmarva Conservation Corridor Congressman Wayne T. Gilchrest (2002)
Our aim is to protect the largest contiguous block of productive farmland in the mid-Atlantic region. We will preserve nearly $15 billion in ecological benefits that support important regional industries that rely on fisheries and tourism. We are working to sustain the region’s treasured culture and heritage.
