Jim & Mary B. Lynch Preserve

The Jim & Mary B. Lynch Preserve was donated to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy on June 30, 1998, by Mary Lynch, with the designation of being an open access space for the public. Entirely consisting of forest and marsh, with several perennial ponds, the 200+ acre preserve provides 11,000 feet of scenic frontage along the Choptank River and Robins Creek. On November 22, 1999, the Maryland Environmental Trust placed an easement on the property, forever ensuring that this parcel of land will remain undeveloped and an asset to the environmental integrity of Caroline County.

Visiting the Preserve

The Lynch Preserve is open to the public for minimal impact recreational use, i.e. hiking, jogging, dog walking, bird watching. The Preserve is open to public access year-round from dawn to dusk.

Through a partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Trust and the Chesapeake Conservation Corps, the preserve was revitalized in July 2012 to include an informational kiosk, several benches at scenic locations across the property, and a new trail loop.

ESLC encourages all visitors to walk the paths and enjoy beautiful Eastern Shore scenery at their leisure. The Lynch Trail, which begins at this trail head, extends west toward Robins Creek and is the most handicap accessible. As you explore the trails, please be considerate of the adjacent residential community as well as the local wildlife that calls the Lynch Preserve home.

The preserve’s main trailhead is located at the end of Robins Creek Rd, just south of Denton. Trails are clear and well-marked but are natural and sometimes cross over roots, thick leaves, and wet ground. We ask that you take appropriate precautions during tick season. There are no bathroom facilities on-site. Dogs must stay on leash.
