In 2023, 72.6 million bushels of corn were harvested for grain in the state of Maryland. That’s 8,131,200,000 ears — or 1,316 ears per person. And that doesn’t even include sweet corn!

Most of that corn was grown on the Eastern Shore. So how do you tell the difference between sweet corn and field corn? How are they grown and where do they go? Learn all this and more in our latest episode of What’s in that field?

Join farmer Terri Wolf-King, her husband Jeffrey, and son Landon as they show us around the corn fields at Cornerstone Farm in Dorchester County. ESLC has protected 258 acres of Terri’s farm for the last 20 years. The property protects productive agricultural land, forest, wildlife habitat, and a healthy and abundant multi-generation farm operation thanks to the hard work and stewardship of Terri and her family.
