In Maryland, October is WALKTOBER, a month to spotlight Maryland pedestrians’ safety, health, and commuting options. This year, ESLC is hosting four walks where attendees will enjoy fresh air, autumn foliage, and an inside look into our local land conservation and land use and policy work.

Please join us at the St. Michaels Nature Trail to celebrate Walktober! Join ESLC’s Carol Bean for an autumn stroll along the Town of St Michaels beautiful nature trail. During the walk you’ll hear about future expansion plans for the trail, see waterfowl and migratory bird habitat, and learn about ESLC’s recent mediation that resulted in St. Michaels’ acquisition of the Environmental Concern property—soon to become a new community park through the beautiful design work of Mahan Rykiel!

Today the nature trail parallels the town offering a quiet and serene recreational path that connects wildlife habitat, links residential areas to playgrounds, public water access, covered bridges, and historical sites. The paved paths and shady tree canopy make for a safe and relaxing place for walking, running, and biking.

We will gather in the St. Michaels Nature Trail parking lot, just before town, on South Talbot Street located directly across from the Bay Hundred Community Pool (911 S Talbot St, St Michaels, MD 21663). We will walk for a little over an hour with periodic stops. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if desired. Register here for the event at St. Michaels’ Nature Trail.
