In Maryland, October is WALKTOBER, a month to spotlight Maryland pedestrians’ safety, health, and commuting options. This year, ESLC is hosting four walks where attendees will enjoy fresh air, autumn foliage, and an inside look into our local land conservation and land use and policy work.

Please join us at our final of four ESLC-led walks to celebrate Walktober! Join ESLC’s Director of Land Conservation, David Satterfield for an autumn stroll through Cecil County’s new Bohemia River State Park, opened just last year. During the walk you’ll see fall migratory birds and beautiful autumn foliage, all while learning how ESLC collaborated with DNR to preserve the 460 acres of open space which ultimately became the state park. Today the park provides abundant opportunities for public recreation, from hiking and biking to fishing, kayaking, and hunting. The diverse landscape of meadows, working farmland, riverfront water access, historic barns, forests, wetlands, nature trails, and habitat restoration projects makes for a fun and engaging place to rejuvenate and explore.

We will gather in the Bohemia River State Park parking lot and walk for about two hours with periodic stops. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if desired. Register here for the event at Bohemia River State Park.
