Over the past year, Jim, along with his colleagues at the University of Maryland, just completed a study for the Eastern Shore Climate Adaptation Partnership that should be disconcerting for Eastern Shore residents.
Climate change will fuel heavier downpours and deeper floodwaters on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, according to one of the first detailed looks at changing rainfall patterns at the local level in the mid-Atlantic.
The Eastern Shore Climate Adaptation Partnership (ESCAP) is the first group in Maryland to undertake a close look at the impacts of severe rainfall patterns. Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, in partnership with University of Maryland, recently completed a study on behalf of ESCAP, which includes policy recommendations to help local governments protect their communities against climate-induced precipitation.
Preparing for tomorrow, today: that was the key message received by attendees of Architectural Stewardship of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy’s first-ever coastal resilience workshop aimed at people within a professional sector or discipline.
ESLC has released a new study to assist local governments plan for the impacts of sea level rise. Titled “Mainstreaming Sea Level Rise Preparedness in Local Planning and Policy on Maryland’s Eastern Shore,” the report is centered on sea level rise projections for the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries in the years 2050 and 2100.
